What Does Photography mean to me?

Growing up I always saw cameras as an extended eye that could hold on to what I was witnessing at the moment. We live in a world where things are constantly changing from the weather to political conflicts. This makes it very easy to lose focus of the things happening in the moment. In the article, Photography changes everything Heiferman mentions "we don't only look at the images; we take them". In my opinion, the beauty of photography comes from the simple action of freezing a moment in time.

I've learned that photographs allow you to see the things around you that would have otherwise gone unnoticed. Growing up looking at pictures from my childhood I always loved looking at pictures and being able to go back and step into that moment for a second. If I can think of when I feel the most connected to a camera, I would have to say its when I'm traveling. My interest in photography correlates with my love to travel as I take hundreds of pictures everywhere I go. This allows me to visually be able to remember the places I've been to and not forget the things I've experienced whether they've been good or bad.
