Artistic Photograms : Laszlo moholy-nagy

Blog #2 Photograms

Out of the artist introduced in the photogram assignment the one that caught my interest was Laszlo. There's a more rustic look to his images considering that they were taken in the mid 1920s the photograms are very timeless. The use of the most accessible things such as hands and faces show the lack of tools needed for a good artistic photogram.

As I was researching Laszlo I noted other fields of work that he worked with such as Painting, photography, and set design. What I found most interesting was his work in set design as it taps into his artistic talent in being able to compose great images and make things people want to look at. One big factor of set design is light work and knowing how things will look under the show lights to the audience.

To bring this back to his work with photogram his ability to manipulate lights in different settings. This is especially important to learn when working with black and white photography as you're not able to see results immediately.  Knowing the importance of shadows and light manipulation it is a versatile skill.
